He’ll fight to keep taxes low, cut red tape, and make it easier for local businesses to hire and expand. Because a strong economy isn’t built by bureaucrats — it’s built by the men and women who call Mid-Michigan home.

For Michigan’s energy needs, we need real science — not political science. When bureaucrats and career politicians make energy decisions based on ideology instead of facts, families and businesses pay the price. We’ve seen the consequences firsthand: higher bills, unreliable power grids, and threats of rolling blackouts.

Chris Velasquez is an engineer, not a politician. With nearly three decades of experience in science and industry, he understands how to keep energy reliable, affordable, and safe. He’s worked on real solutions — not theories — and knows that dependable energy is the backbone of a strong economy and healthy communities.

Chris believes energy decisions should be made locally, not dictated from Lansing. One-size-fits-all mandates and political agendas only hurt consumers and shut down proven sources of power. He’ll fight to restore balance, protect Michigan’s energy independence, and keep the lights on for the people who keep this state running.

Putting Parents and Students First

Parents know what’s best for their kids — they shouldn’t have to fight to be heard. Too many families feel shut out of their children’s education, while the people making the rules have never set foot in a classroom. Chris Velasquez believes decisions about education should be made by those closest to it — parents, teachers, and local school boards — not bureaucrats behind a desk. Parents deserve transparency and a real voice in what their children are taught.

Chris has spent years promoting STEM education and hands-on learning that prepare students for real-world careers. But across Michigan, our schools have lost their edge — buried in paperwork, afraid of innovation, and too disconnected from the skills employers actually need. Chris will work to change that by expanding opportunities in science, technology, engineering, math, and the skilled trades that power our economy.

And when it comes to sports, fairness matters. Girls train to compete, to belong, to win— not to be part of someone's strange social experiment. Chris has seen that dedication up close. His daughter was the captain of the rowing team at Clemson University. Chris watched her train in the dark before sunrise, push through pain, and give everything for her team. That’s what fairness protects — opportunity earned through discipline, effort, and heart.

That same respect for fairness should go beyond athletics. Women deserve privacy, safety, and dignity in their own spaces — in locker rooms, restrooms, and shelters. Protecting those spaces isn’t about politics; it’s about basic decency and respect for every woman’s right to feel safe and secure.
